OS X Panther release and reaction. Halloween and parties. Rogerbox playing in Hamtramck.

Last Friday, Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) was released. The Apple stores in the area held “Apple Events” to sell the hot black boxes. As required by the Apple Geek Union, I was there, standing in line with many other Mac users. I recognize that there’s not much other than a music concert that will make people line up for blocks. I sure as hell have never seen anyone line up for the new release of a Microsoft OS.

Panther is very cool. Smoother, faster, and packed with new features. I took advantage of the Apple Event discount and bought an iSight camera. It works very well, and was a breeze to set up. (I just plugged it in.)

Rogerbox played at a Halloween party last Saturday. The crowd enjoyed it, and we had a lot of fun in the laid-back environment. It was a “pimp and ho” themed party, and of course, the whole band was in costume, too.

Speaking of Rogerbox, we’re playing at Paycheck’s Lounge in Hamtramck, MI on November 7th. Details can be found on their site.

Honeymoon, Firbird runs again, Back to work.

Our honeymoon in Mexico was great. Sun every day, relaxing in the pool(s), checking out Mayan ruins, great food, lots of fruity drinks, and of course, great company. It was really nice to wind down after a year and a half of wedding planning. (Not that I did that much of it.) I’ll try to post a gallery of Honeymoon pics soon.

Yesterday, I spent the last day of my vacation prepping cars for the winter. I also managed to get off of my butt and get my Firebird running again. A new battery, oil filter, oil, fuel filter, pcv valve, fresh fuel, and some injector cleaner. All better. Now comes the hard part… cleaning it up and prepping it for restoration.

Watcha gonna do when they come for you…

I’m in my basement, almost ready to head up for bed, when I hear a “pop” outside. I figure it’s a firecracker, and go out with Kacey to investigate. Initially, there’s nothing going on. I walked back into my yard, and when I turned around, I noticed a figure standing across the street by a tree. My first guess what that somebody really had to “go.” I took a step forward, crunching some leaves. The man turned and I saw his uniform… the local police… holding a shotgun. His partner came in to view and asked if I heard a “gunshot.” I told him about the noise I came out to investigate as their radios began to squalk. Kacey and I went inside as they continued to patrol the neighborhood. This morning I checked a few local news sources and found nothing about the night’s events.

Personally, I plan to never use firecrackers in my neighborhood… ever.

Last race of the season. 1 week to wedding.

This Saturday and Sunday are the last races of the WHRRI SCCA Club Racing Season. Tickets are cheap and there’s no better way to get close to the action. This weekend promises to be exciting as the points race is close and the weather is supposed to be unpredictable.

There’s officially 1 week left until our wedding. Yes, I’m excited. However Gina and I are both ready to be married… a year and a half of planning and anticipation wears on you after a while.
