Sno*Drift. Work craziness: our first try at content management.

We went to the Sno*Drift Rally last weekend. It was awesome. Cold, but awesome. There are photos available. Work is crazy. We’ve decided to make our own content managment system. Since there’s a very limited schedule, we’re sticking with XSLT, which the rest of our site is based on, and there’s no learning curve. However, XSLT was never intended for this, and hence… sucks. We’ll probably convert it to either JSP or php5 in 6 to 9 months.

News and changelog system test.

Looks like the news and changelog update systems are working well. This is really just a test, so there’s no reason to pay any attention. Hooray!

Archived System Update

What’s changed? Everything! The site is now database driven. There are new zen entries, pet pictures. The new camera input card should be installed this week. Once completed, the entire transition to this primary server will be complete.

New site progress…

The homepage is about 1/3 of the way converted to the new database-driven system. From the frontend, the only significant change will be the main navigation change. The server seems to be taking the load well. We’ll see how she runs once there’s some real traffic.

Archived System Update

The new Leinninger.com server is up and working well. It’s a Compaq ProLiant with dual 200 mhz p-pro processors, 287m of ram, approx 200 gigs of ATA100 storage, a 6-drive RAID5 SCSI array, and a few other goodies. It should be very stable now (running Gentoo Linux) and easier to maintain and upgrade. This site is not hosted on Leinninger.com in it’s entirety. The good peeps at The Collective keep things frosty right now. However, I’m hoping to move Etcetera to the Leinninger.com server(s) within the next 9 months.
